For my final intervention I want to address global warming and environmental concerns for our Earth. I believe as humans we lack empathy for other beings that are not human, as we cannot relate to what they experience. For this project I wanted to take the opportunity to take to the streets and give the streets a voice, voicing the concerns and questions they have with me being merely the vessel for the message.
As this is an intervention I wanted to write things that disrupt people's daily lives. Taking it to the streets it could be seen as Graffiti, but in this case I would like to address it more as a civil disobedience. The reason why I would consider it as such as with Graffiti there is a certain style element to it and I have respect for the culture thus I would rather it not be considered as such since in this case I am uninterested with how it looks but more of how it penetrates the thoughts of the people who see the writing. I want the writings to make people question the dynamic of environmental changes around us and the effects of it. I decided to write things in a way that makes people think, as I want people to question themselves or about what is written rather than me telling them how to feel.
Some concerns I will be addressing would be the priorities of our state, as far as prioritizing other things rather than our environment. I wanted to address is our changing climate, the rising temperature all over the world. Furthermore, the fossil fuel consumption, as it leads to greenhouse gases that come back down to our land in the form of acid rain.
I decided to take it to the streets because once the message is there it can reach an infinite amount of people depending on who sees it. I want the message to provoke a thought amongst the people who see the message, for it to reside in their subconscious, or simply for them to question what it even means. As long as the people can read it and think about it I have achieved my goal. With all other issues being on the mainstream it seems as if the concern of environmental change and global warming has been put on the back-burner, thus I want to remind the people that global warming is still happening, even if it isn't a trending topic currently.
