The Interventionist Chapter 3 + 4

 Chapter 3:

“In line with their ongoing interest in illegality, they have produced a series of clothing patterns where visitors can make their own bag. YOMANGO likes to think of this work as “clothing for civil dis- obedience.”

YOMANGO is a brand name as well. “Like all other major brand names is not so much about selling concrete stuff, but more about promoting a lifestyle.”

The project Yomango bag is a shoplifting tool disguised as a simple bag.  The purpose of this bag is to give people a product that would be used in a daily routine.  To create a lifestyle brand that involves shoplifting and making it easy too. To create civil disobedience and promote a lifestyle that is only fitting to copy what major corporations do to people. They steal from the consumer and from their own employers. So it’s only right to do to them what they have been doing cold-heartedly.

Chapter 4:

                  “By any media necessary”

“In executing projects such as
this one, we hope to contribute to an idea of public science
by focusing on issues (such as food production) that are of direct interest to people, and so contribute to making the meaning of scientific initiatives immediate and concrete, as opposed to the vague abstractions they tend to be.”

The project “Free Range Grain” is a work that brings straight evidence to the audience’s face. Providing public science to important topics like food production. This topic can be vague to the audience and consumers because no one tells them exactly what goes into food production. Companies don’t care to explain and would rather keep to themselves. This project demonstrates tests that would provide concrete evidence to the people wanting to know and see.
