Intervention Project
For my intervention project I was inspired by the book "Interventionists user's manual for the creative disruption of Everyday life." In chapter 4 "16th beaver st. founded in 2003, New York City. This was a network for activists, artists, and other people who come together to discuss and talk about topics and bring awareness to current events, problems, and politics and new thinkings that were taking place. "The space for what Joseph Beuys referred to an ongoing conference." This was an ongoing conference everyday that combined pressing social, artistic, political, and philosophical questions with everyday events. This got me thinking of whats current and new right now. Gas prices has drastically gone up in the last 2 weeks.
The average gas price of a gallon of gasoline has gone up more then 10% this month. This has clearly caused many car owners and people who use gas to fill up their cars to rethink about their routines and spending. This problem has definitely caused worries for many people and they are furious. According to AAA, The average price of a gallon of gas in the U.S reached $4.17. Such states that have been effected the most by the outburst are California, Hawaii, Nevada, Oregon, Washington, Alaska, Illinois, Connecticut, NewYork. Why are gas prices going up ? The main reason why gas is going up now is because of Russia's Invasion in Ukraine. This connects with rising gas prices is because U.S law makers and others are banning Russia oil imports. This has caused a hit in global oil supplies. Although gas prices were already increasing before the invasion last month but the war made it increase more. For many people high prices are another hurdle and frustration for their effort to return to normally after the pandemic. Their is already a lot of worries and this is another thing added on to the list. This got me thinking about using public transportation for the time being. Not only that but their are several alternatives such as electric scooters and bikes, walk or jog, regular bikes, skateboards, and many more.
