| Piece I drew about Ocean pollution |
For my intervention, I wanted to talk about ocean pollution. I have always loved the ocean ever since I was a child and I believe that ocean pollution and it's very harmful effects
on the environment are not as often talked about as often as weather change or other issues involving the environment. The photo above the realistic photo is a drawing that I created where a beautiful mermaid is not enjoying the luxurious seas she calls home but she is dealing with the harsh and deadly pollution that is often left behind.
For my project, I was influenced by the artist Krzysztof and their piece called, "Homeless Vehicle", the reason I was influenced by them is that they created something to aid the homeless population by providing a vehicle for them as well as a home to rest. I feel as though through the power of art and other forms of art such as a poem I wrote called, "Blue just like my eyes", these can be used as a form of activism to show powerful figures in society that we care about the environment. In chapter one, the book shows that "the project is meant to bring the issue of homelessness to public attention." In the poem I wrote, it is written from a mermaid's point of view where she is talking about how the ocean's pollution has affected her as well as other animals in the environment.
