Intervention 1: 5 Tips to Cope with Depression

Sometimes we may ask ourselves, what is depression? Depression is a common and serious medical illness that negatively affects how you feel, the way you think, and how you act. Another person will never know if a person is depressed unless they are told, just because a person is smiling and laughing does not mean they are not depressed. Many who are depressed don't know how to cope with depression and drown in their sorrows, so I decided to make an educational video to educate others who may be experiencing depression and don't know how to start dealing with it. There were many times as a teen where I felt depressed. During that time, I thought, how can I get myself out of this dark place? So I started doing the things spoken about in this educational video. The purpose of this educational video is to bring awareness to how simple things can help a depressed person feel better. My intervention is called 5 tips to cope with depression.

The artist who inspired my intervention was Haha, a collaborative team that came together in 1998 to address gaps between artists and audiences. A quote that inspired me was, “Haha is using the technology to visually broadcast messages with topical interest submitted by residents of a given city.” This inspired me to advocate for depression and help others dealing with depression by reaching out to them and sending them a message through public media on how they can cope with depression. Another quote would be, “Each project is approached uniquely, through interaction and frequently collaboration with individuals and communities, as well as the constituent physical and historical properties of a locale.” This is very inspirational because later on in the future, I would like to collaborate with others who advocate for mental health and depression to send out a more powerful message to people that are dealing with depression to let them know that they’re not alone.
