Intervention 1

For this assignment I choose to create a video that can empower and help break the bias. From Chapter one I selected William Pope L. as my inspiration. He created “The Black Factory” that presented objects that represent and speak about blackness. The Black Factory “aimed at anyone interested in issues of what makes us different and it's using the black experience as a funnel to talk about differences”, explains Pope L. I took his idea as an inspiration to create a video that gives women ideas on how to make a difference and using my friends' reactions as an example. I chose this topic because it's really important for me that women support each other and that we create a voice that can represent all of us.

Nowadays in our society women get judged a lot. I believe that no matter what size, shape or color you are, we should all love each other for who we are and not for how we look. We need to demonstrate the world that the more united we get the stronger and smarter we can be. That helps to empower others and ourselves, to demonstrate what we are capable of doing and to have an equal respect. “To offer empowerment is a simple gift with the effect of making someone happier, stronger or exhilarated. It’s about reaching out and touching others with the offer of positive support. It’s about sharing stories to inspire and influence. It’s about teaching, talking, learning, listening and nurturing. “Most importantly, empowerment amongst women can turn lonely to liberating, weak to strong and hopeless to hopeful. It is something I am honored to do and be a part of on a daily basis,” says Lucy Good from Beanstalk Mums.
