I find Kia Labeija to be a very impactful activist and someone who inspires me to put my best foot forward.  Kia Labeija was born to a woman with HIV. At the age of three years old it was found that she also had the illness. In 1993, LaBeija was sadly diagnosed with HIV. This was cause by having contracted the virus through mother-to-child or as many know it as perinatal transmission. Contracting it from her mother through childbirth. I find Kia to be so impactful to many different groups in many different ways. As she advocates for her and many others living with this condition, she also bring awareness to HIV and people who live with it day by day through her work. She is also a member of the visual aids organization as well as numerous others. At the age of 19 Kia got into Ball room and officially began walking in 2012.  following in her late father steps LaBeija later earned the Hector Xtravaganza Xellence Award, named after her iconic late gay father who was very well known to the community. I find Kia Labeija, her story, and the journey she tells through her work not only to be impactful but inspiring to a lot of people who are struggling or living with this illness. Kia  inspires people to live their best lives even with the good and bad and also to live freely, as they are in there own bodies, not abiding by society's rules  .

About me
My Name is Crystal , I am 21 years old. This is a picture of me and my family. I believe that this picture says so much about me. I am the happiest I can ever be when I am around my love ones. I can describe myself as outgoing, family oriented, and kind. My major is Psychology, However, I'm in the process of changing my major to art therapy. I am a artist, I love being able to start off with a Blank sheet and ending up with something beautiful or something you were not planning on making in the beginning stages. I enjoy nature and the animals that reside in it. I hope to incorporate art into my future career. I believe art is another way of communication. It allows a person to express themselves in ways they may not be able to when verbally communicating.
