When we visited the gallery, the two images which stuck out to me were these two because the image on the right was called, " Huwe Burton said Truth freed me, Music kept me sane while I Waited, 2019." The left image stood out to me because at the bottom of the piece it says, 17 years on death row, 1st meal on the outside, then threw up,". The reason these two images stood out to me is that when I was younger I went through a weight loss journey and one of the things I have realized even now is that some foods make me nauseous. Although, I can not imagine how upset the teenager must have been eating their first meal only for their body to reject it even though they have had that same meal before they were incarcerated. The right one stood out to me because of the portion of the title which was, "Music kept me sane while I waited" and the reason this stood out to me is that music is a way to vent and a way to allow oneself to relax and free themself from reality.
When I made my selfie, I was inspired by how many teenagers as well as adults under twenty-five years old are wrongfully convicted which really upsets me because many teenagers, as well as adults, often are wrongfully convicted and are not proven innocent until years later. Many examples of courtroom injustice are read about as well as viewed about through youtube as well as the news and news articles. Research shows that many teens, as well as young adults, are falsely accused and they end up being sentenced to life in prison and in some extreme cases, the death penalty where they await death even though they were never truly proven guilty in court.
