Final Intervention - Shouhaybou Mbow

 For my final project, I will want to advocate for climate change by planning an event where people will come to plant flowers. One of the quotes from the reading is “I have a dream” I have a dream for the next generation to live in a healthy and safe environment, I have a dream to live longer and healthily.  This event will consist of many aspects:

·        --A presentation about how we can improve our environment

·        --Painting pots

·      --  Planting flowers

·        -- Giving out papers about climate change one that said (it’s time to think green, Earth Day, caring for our environment means caring for our health. Let’s fight climate change) and the one that says (Happy Earth Day).

·        -- Social Ice cream

·       -- Foods (sandwiches, chicken, and some refreshments like juice and water.)

 On April 26, I planned one of the most successful events in the school during the spring semester. The event started was from 1-3 pm, we have more than one hundred twenty people that have attended the event. Every person had to sign in to come to the event and do some activities either dance, singing, or play. In addition, they must put their first name, last name, and email address to be entered in a raffle. During the Earth Day event, I have decided to put a little bit of activity, so every person that comes to the event has to paint their own pot and design it the way they like it. After painting their own pot, they can take whichever flower they want, put it in the pot which they design, and bring it to their house. This event was to advocate for climate change. According to NASA, “The extreme used of chemical substances and gases has sped up climate change”. Some artists that really inspired me to tackle this issue that we all are facing are:

1-Zahria Forman, she has a studio in Brooklyn where she makes a great paintings about climate change Fighting Climate Change With Amazing Photorealistic Paintings - Bing video

2- Agnes Denes, she was by reading in her artwork she was so talented. She was known for her innovative use of metallics ink. Some of her work can be found through this link: Agnes Denes | Hieronymus Objects.

3- Thomas Saraceno, is an architect that invents ways we can adapt to climate change he also developed a project called “collaborations with the atmosphere” to try to find ways of how we can fly using airplanes without affecting the environment.

4-Greta Thunberg- I have always admired this person. She is a teen known by the whole world for her fight against climate change. She has met every leader and she even sat in one of the United Nations conferences and advocate for climate change.

The second quote from the reading was “ Am I next” Am I next to be on the list that is affected by climate change and global warming, Am I next to get a disease coming from climate change, Am I next to starve to death because there is no rain nor the ability to grow crops for the farmers.

The final quote from the reading is “To indoctrinate boys into the rules of patriarchy, we force them to feel pain and to deny their feelings”. I feel like those people in power don’t care about what the middle class or poor people endure when it comes to climate change. Even though they keep innovating and creating new things, we have to be careful about how it’s affecting our environment, and how it is deteriorating our sky. Climate change is becoming more and more dangerous, and people are not taking it seriously that’s why I decided to advocate for climate change and bring awareness to other people for this final project.
