Gallery response

My visit to the gallery of Dr. Ellis-Williams was a memorable experience for me and I was interested in how the pieces contrasted with each other. I enjoyed it not only because I am trying to learn and gain experience, but also because it touched my heart.  Initially, I began to walk around the picture and began to feel the emotional connection between the different pieces. I was inspired by one of the pieces that caught my attention was Black on Black, on Black, on Black, on Black, on Black, on Black (2020). Looking at this painting, one might think it is just a large blackboard shaded in black. However, upon closer examination, I realized it represented many things, including the life of a black woman who had the right to choose like many others. She also had the right to live in a society.

However, Dr. Ellis-William was using layers and paintings to create some three-dimensional artwork that would clarify the storyline and color of the person, and her distinctive painting was black. When you look at the pictures of the painting closely, you will notice more layers on top of each other. It is better to see it close to get a sense of how striking and powerful this piece is. Finally, I believe that this painting symbolizes the black women, as I mentioned, as we know that black women are always subjected to violence in the street, schools, and work, and also in their society, killing is always in the foreground, however, they are subjected to bullying by the police as a result of racism because of the color of their skin. We must treat each other with quality and justice.

Stagecoach Mary was the other and second artwork that I was inspired by. When you look at this piece related to Baharatte Tubman, who is known as an African American  woman who was a political activist, you will know the black woman on the other hand, as she helped slaves to freedom and was also an activist in the abolition of the death penalty. However, I love the way she is helping people find freedom too, also, I loved that she was an American woman with a gun and it turns out she can protect herself without a man and black women have the right to go to military it shouldn't be any difference between women and men.

Women, in general, should have the right and opinion to choose their life, especially the black women, because the black women always oppressed in choosing her right.
